[Verse 1] The silent compass mocks the ancient clocks, Plump children cantor in the summer breeze. The velvet lizard wears a golden frock, He's teaching calculus to plastic trees. [Chorus] So spin the velvet lizard around and round, Backyard nights we danced beneath the harvest moon. We searched the world o'er but never found, Tell us where do the plastic flowers bloom. [Verse 2] The dungeon suitcase melted into battered lines, Raining upward toward a starless gloom. We measured silence on the scale of time, Painting broken promises, red white and blue. [Instrumental break] [Verse 3] The velvet lizards were never diagnosed With empty hearts and dreams that turn to dust I sold my final soul to a friendly ghost Who buys shattered hopes you can never trust [Chorus] [Vocal Only] So spin the velvet lizard around and round, Backyard nights we danced beneath the harvest moon. We searched the world o'er but never found, Tell us where do the plastic flowers bloom. [Instrumental] [Chorus] So spin the velvet lizard around and round, Backyard nights we danced beneath the harvest moon. We searched the world o'er but never found, Tell us where do the plastic flowers bloom.
