Smokey Dokey - Vibes don’t Lie

**Intro** [NO DRUMS, no bongos, ONLY ELECTRIC GUITAR no percussion of any kind, deep warm bass enters slowly on bar 5, no vocals] **Verse 1** [male vocal, warm and unhurried, still no drums — just guitar, Rhodes and bass underneath] You don't need a word to feel the room you're in Some man walk in heavy, some man walk in light as wind Every thought you're holding got a colour of its own And the ones around you catch it before it's shown Some man carry sunshine even when the sky is grey Some man carry shadow though they smile the whole day Energy don't ask you, energy just moves Vibes don't lie — that's the only truth that proves **Pre Chorus** [soft percussion shaker enters here for the first time, subtle build, harmonies rising] Rising warm and slow, feel it in your chest What you send around you comes right back to rest **Chorus** [full one-drop drums finally enter here for the first time — the release — reggae guitar skank, warm bass, harmonies wide open] Vibes don't lie, no no no! Vibes don't lie Oh No! What you carry inside you Gonna multiply Send a little love out Watch it multiply Jah know the heart, Jah know the reason why Vibes don't lie **Verse 2** [full band now, one-drop groove steady, warm and grounded delivery] Karma ain't a punishment, karma is a mirror Show you what you planted when the picture gets clearer You can't fool the frequency, you can't hide the sound Every man broadcast something walking on this ground So check your inside garden 'fore you step outside Water what you love and let the rest just subside The children feel it quicker than the grown man can explain They mirror back the energy like sunshine after rain **Pre Chorus** [fuller harmonies than first pre-chorus] Rising warm and slow, feel it in your chest What you send around you comes right back to rest **Chorus** [bigger than first, backing vocals lift underneath] Vibes don't lie, no Vibes don't lie What you carry inside you Gonna multiply Send a little love out Watch it multiply Jah know the heart, Jah know the reason why Vibes don't lie **Steel Pan Solo** [warm melodic steel pan solo, 8 bars, one-drop drums and bass steady underneath, guitar skank on the offbeat, soulful and unhurried, no vocals] **Bridge** [stripped to Rhodes keyboard and bass only, intimate and direct] I'm not asking you to fake a smile I'm asking you to feel it for a while Because the love you plant in someone else's day Comes around and blesses you along the way Same for the anger and the same for the doubt What you feeding is the thing that grows about So choose it slow and choose it with your chest Vibes don't lie — they know when you're not blessed **Build** [full band returns warm, guitar skank and drums building steadily, harmonies humming underneath, 4 bars rising into the final chorus] **Final Chorus** [fullest version, harmonies stacked, gospel-reggae warmth, congregation feeling] Vibes don't lie, no Vibes don't lie What you carry inside you Gonna multiply Send a little love out Watch it multiply Jah know the heart, Jah know the reason why Vibes don't lie [held, harmonies rising:] Vibes don't lie — that's the only truth that proves Vibes don't lie **Outro** [band slowly strips back down — drums fade first, then bass, until only the guitar fingerpicking and Rhodes remain, mirroring the intro, no percussion at the very end] Vibes don't lie (vibes don't lie) Send it out (watch it multiply) [guitar note held — Rhodes chord fades — silence] **End**
