Designed or Surprised
Yeah… Let’s think this through… No emotion… just truth… They say our sin breaks the heart of God Like we caught Him off guard, like He didn’t know the odds Like He made a world that slipped His control And now He reacts to a loss of the whole Wait… hold up… let’s define the frame An all-knowing God don’t learn or change If He knows the end from the start of breath Then every step was already set So when we fell was it shock or plan? Did it surprise… or was it in hand? Did He create what He couldn’t contain? Or did we misunderstand the name? If He made all, including choice Then even our fall was within His voice So how does sin catch God off guard… If nothing exists outside who You are? Did You design this… or lose control? Did we break You… or play the role? If You knew it all before the start How does our sin… then break Your heart? If You’re complete… no missing part How does creation tear You apart? If nothing’s outside Your sight or plan Did You not know… what we would become? They say our sin makes distance grow Like God steps back when the darkness shows But if He’s present in all we see Where exactly could that distance be? We say “He’s holy, can’t look at wrong” But He made the place where wrong belongs If nothing exists without His will Then even the fall… exists there still So is He wounded by what He made? Or are we projecting the fear we’ve framed? We know regret, we know that pain So we place that weight on Heaven’s name But perfect doesn’t react in shock And infinite doesn’t get overthrown or blocked So either God’s less than what we claim Or sin ain’t working the way we say Did You design this… or lose control? Did we break You… or play the role? If You knew it all before the start— How does our sin… then break Your heart? If You’re complete… no missing part How does creation tear You apart? If nothing’s outside Your sight or plan Did You not know… what we would become? Maybe sin ain’t what we’ve been told Not something that makes the Infinite fold Maybe it’s us… feelin’ out of place Projectin’ that feeling onto His face Maybe the pain is real inside But not because God got hurt or denied But ‘cause we feel cut off from Life And call that distance “His reply” No disrespect, just clear the line If God is perfect, He don’t rewind He don’t regret, He don’t misplace He don’t get hurt by His own creation’s state So either He knew… and this unfolds Or we’re telling a story that doesn’t hold Either He’s sovereign, full, complete Or something we made can bring defeat And I don’t see how both can stand A perfect God with a broken plan So maybe sin isn’t what we’ve believed But what it feels like when we feel deceived You designed this… never lost control We didn’t break You… we played the role You knew it all before the start So sin never once… tore You apart You’re complete… no missing part No creation can undo Your heart Nothing exists outside Your plan So You always knew… what we would become…
