[Intro — whispered, atmospheric]
The moon hangs low upon the sea
No star will show the way
A black ship rises through the mist
And waits beyond the spray

No lantern burns upon her deck
No sailor calls her name
But crimson cloth is snapping high
And death is at the helm

[Verse 1]
We heard the cannon far offshore
Three thunderclaps out of sight
A merchantman beneath the setting sun
Was running for her life

Then through the fog she came at dusk
With sails as black as coal
No colors flying from the mast
No living hand aboard

Her captain stood beneath the moon
With eyes like burning wine
He raised a sword and gave the word
"Your cargo now is mine"

[Pre-Chorus]
No prayer was heard
No warning given
The dead don't fear
The gates of Heaven

[Chorus]
BLOOD UNDER BLACK SAILS!
RED MOON ON THE SEA!
THE NIGHT CREW COMES FOR YOU
AND THEY NEVER SET YOU FREE!

BLOOD UNDER BLACK SAILS!
THE DEAD HAVE TAKEN COMMAND!
PRIVATEERS OF THE MIDNIGHT OCEAN
WITH DEATH UPON THEIR HANDS!

[Verse 2]
They boarded without a sound at all
Like shadows in the rain
No breath upon their frozen lips
No heartbeat in their veins

The first mate swung his boarding axe
And buried it in one's flesh
The vampire only smiled at him
And tore him from the deck

Then every face beneath the moon
Was pale and cold and still
And every man aboard that ship
Had felt the captain's will

They didn't come for silver
They didn't come for gold
They came to fill their empty veins
Before the night grew old

[Pre-Chorus]
The cannon roared
The rigging screamed
The sea ran dark
Beneath the beams

[Chorus]
BLOOD UNDER BLACK SAILS!
RED MOON ON THE SEA!
THE NIGHT CREW COMES FOR YOU
AND THEY NEVER SET YOU FREE!

BLOOD UNDER BLACK SAILS!
THE DEAD HAVE TAKEN COMMAND!
PRIVATEERS OF THE MIDNIGHT OCEAN
WITH DEATH UPON THEIR HANDS!

[Instrumental Break]
Twin-guitar harmony
Galloping bass
Thunderous drums
Distant church organ

[Bridge — slower, ominous]
The captain raised his ancient blade
And silence filled the air
"Men have ruled these waters long enough..."
Then he vanished from the stairs

The moon went black
The sea went still
The ship began to turn

And from the hold came hollow cries
As something woke below

[Lead Guitar Solo]

[Verse 3 — faster]
By morning there was nothing left
But wreckage on the tide
No bodies for the gulls to find
No sailors left alive

The black ship sailed into the mist
Before the morning came
And somewhere in the darkness
Someone whispered out her name

The Crimson Queen
The Widow's Pride
The Devil's privateer

A ship that hunts beneath the moon
And sails where death draws near

[Final Chorus — huge]
BLOOD UNDER BLACK SAILS!
RED MOON ON THE SEA!
THE NIGHT CREW COMES FOR YOU
AND THEY NEVER SET YOU FREE!

BLOOD UNDER BLACK SAILS!
THE DEAD HAVE TAKEN COMMAND!
PRIVATEERS OF THE MIDNIGHT OCEAN
WITH DEATH UPON THEIR HANDS!

BLOOD UNDER BLACK SAILS!
SAIL INTO THE NIGHT!
NO DAWN WILL EVER FIND THEM
NO GRAVE CAN HOLD THEM TIGHT!

[Outro]
The wind died down...

The waves grew still...

And somewhere beyond the horizon—

A black sail rose again.

[Gentle fade out]
