Silent Majority (Remastered)

there is no singular database that tracks the exact percentage of the entire combined global population affected by sex crimes. Data from the World Health Organization and UNICEF, indicates that approximately 20 to 30% of the world's population experiences some form of sexual violence in their lifetime. Because data tracking differs extensively by gender and age, global prevalence is best understood through specific demographic breakdowns. Women and Girls are disproportionately targeted by sexual offenses worldwide. Roughly 1 in 3 women and girls, 31 point 6%, or roughly eight hundred forty million globally, have experienced physical or sexual violence, typically from an intimate partner. Roughly 6% to 8% of women worldwide, over two hundred sixty million, report experiencing sexual assault by someone who was not their partner. An estimated 1 in 5 girls, Six hundred fifty million globally, experienced sexual violence before turning 18. When limited specifically to contact crimes like rape or physical sexual assault, the figure is 1 in 8 girls, Three hundred seventy million. Men and boys also face significant rates of sexual violence, though data collection is historically more limited. Approximately 1 in 7 boys and men, between four hundred ten and five hundred thirty million globally, have survived sexual violence during childhood. Around 1 in 11 boys, Two hundred forty to three hundred ten million, experienced completed rape or severe physical sexual assault before the age of 18. Global health and law enforcement experts stress that all official numbers are gross underestimates of the true prevalence. Stigma, fear of retaliation, shame, and a lack of institutional support keep the vast majority of victims from reporting these crimes to authorities. Globally, it is estimated that only about 30% of sexual abuse cases are ever formally reported.
