Whatever That Was

I showed up after the noise was spent Doors half-closed, room still bent Everyone swears they were there first I clocked the angle, weighed the worth They trade timing in for truth Trade volume for something to prove I don’t jump inside the frame I let the image move I learned more watching it stall Than forcing myself to be involved Some people flare just to be seen Some keep it sharp, keep it clean I don’t need the front row glare I see clearer from back there They grab moments mid-collapse I’m counting stress inside the cracks I arrived after the peak When the shouting lost its teeth I don’t show up for the noise I show up when it leaks I stay vertical While the first ones cave They spent it all on the moment I waited out the wave They call it luck when it lands Call it failure when it waits Patience looks bad On a scoreboard of takes I don’t mirror their speed I don’t borrow their tone Some paths don’t open Unless you walk them alone I watched them spike, then scatter Once the room lost sound I was stacking composure While they chased it down No panic in my step No debt to the scene I don’t need to be early Just intact and clean I arrived after the peak No signal, no parade I wasn’t built for the moment I was built to outlast it I keep my eyes open While the rush turns thin They burned bright for attention I stayed when it dimmed I don’t fear missing out I fear showing up wrong Some doors only open Once the crowd’s gone No edits, no rewrites No begging to stay I don’t chase beginnings I finish what remains Still standing, still breathing While the early ones bend I didn’t miss the moment I just stayed till the end
