The Reckless and Beautiful

[Verse 1] Empty wallets Ink on our hands We make big promises With zero plans Laughing too loud On quiet trains Turning small aches Into running jokes again [Chorus] Here’s to the reckless and beautiful May they never learn restraint Spilling red wine on the table Turning every scratch to paint Here’s to the reckless and beautiful Hearts on fire Clothes that stink of rain May they never May they never May they never learn restraint (oh-oh) [Verse 2] Photos crooked Taped to the wall We keep the worst ones We keep them all Wrong directions Right kind of wrong If we crash out early We still call it living long [Chorus] Here’s to the reckless and beautiful May they never learn restraint Dancing in the kitchen barefoot Burning toast at 2 a.m. again Here’s to the reckless and beautiful Eyes too bright to play it safe May they never May they never May they never learn restraint (hey, hey) [Bridge] One day the clock might catch us Line our closets up and straight But tonight we’re loud and laughing Name on every fire escape (oh-oh) [Chorus] Here’s to the reckless and beautiful May they never learn restraint Writing bad ideas on napkins Treating every dare like fate Here’s to the reckless and beautiful Too in love to hit the brakes May they never May they never May they never learn restraint (Yeah, may we never, may we never) May we never learn restraint
