[Female voice] The rover’s packed and ready Final checks all clear A little nervous but excited Day 1 begins Heading North down rocky slopes We pick our way among the hills The mountains giving way by noon We cruise the plains’ till dark. A tiny line across the map Marks our progress towards the pole A glacier waiting to be tapped Who knows what’s really there? [Male voice] Day two starts bright and sunny And we make good time again But wind picks up and with it, dust It’s getting hard to see We stop and watch the howling storm The rover rocking with each gust It blows itself out soon enough And we are back on track Days 3 through 5 are all the same On one unending plain Just dust and rocks that stretch forever But the stars have been insane [Female voice] From horizon to horizon The thin Martian air yields To a billion points of light And there the Earth shines I wonder what they’re doing now Back on our old blue dot Is dad out there looking up To find this little spot? [Harmony] On and on and on we go Twelve hours every day Dodging craters, mapping routes For the many trips to follow
