[Intro] Hush now, lock the cellar door Something's counting on the floor [Verse 1] Black lace snagged on a rusted nail Cold breath curls through the furnace trail Your old jack-o'-lantern grins too wide And something in the walls just scratched inside [Pre-Chorus] Hear those claws on the staircase climb One slow knock, then a second time You can hide your face, you can hold your breath But the thing in the hall knows the shape of your steps [Chorus] Monster in the mirror, teeth like a crown Halloween night and the moon won't come down Run through the graveyard, don't make a sound The dead know your name when the sun goes down Monster, monster, under your bed Counting the candles, collecting the dread Halloween night, let the whole house shake The witch at the gate says it's too late [Verse 2] Plastic fangs and a paper mask You laugh too loud when the shadows ask A stitched-up giant drags one chain Past the porch where the black cats reign [Pre-Chorus] Hear those claws on the staircase climb One slow knock, then a second time You can hide your face, you can hold your breath But the thing in the hall knows the shape of your steps [Chorus] Monster in the mirror, teeth like a crown Halloween night and the moon won't come down Run through the graveyard, don't make a sound The dead know your name when the sun goes down Monster, monster, under your bed Counting the candles, collecting the dread Halloween night, let the whole house shake The witch at the gate says it's too late [Bridge] The clock strikes twelve, the lock turns twice A velvet grin and a pair of red eyes No trick, no treat, no way outside You opened the book—now the beast steps inside [Final Chorus] Monster in the mirror, teeth like a crown Halloween night and the moon won't come down Run through the graveyard, don't make a sound The dead know your name when the sun goes down Monster, monster, under your bed Counting the candles, collecting the dread Halloween night, let the whole house shake The witch at the gate says it's too late [Outro] Hush now, lock the cellar door It learned your name. It's back for more.
