Funny thing about growing up, you spend years running from yourself just to come back and shake his hand. I was young with a fist full of plans, Whole world small enough to fit in my hands. Took wrong roads just to prove I could stand, Burned some bridges, then blamed where I land. Talked too loud when I didn’t know much, Loved too hard, then I ran from the touch. Kept every scar like it made me tough, Thought being strong meant never saying enough. So tell me straight, did I ruin the view? Did every mistake make it harder for you? No. It just made me you. I forgive every night you went numb, Every time you confused where you’re going with where you’re from. Every “I’m fine” when your whole chest locked, Every time you stayed when you should’ve walked. You were young. You were learning the weight. You called it failure, I call it a phase. Every version of us that had to break Built the one standing here today. I don’t need you perfect. Never did. You were just a scared, ambitious kid. You did enough. You made it through. You don’t owe me a better you. Let it go. Let it breathe. Young me, I forgive you. Future me, I believe you. Future me, hope your shoulders sit light, Hope you sleep real good, hope your circle stay tight. Hope the things we chase now still feel right, And if they don’t, I hope you changed your life. Hope success never turns to a cage, Hope you know when to leave, when to turn the page. If we make it big, don’t make it your name. If we lose it all, don’t carry the shame. I’m doing my best with the hand that I came with. You do the same. You did enough. You made it through. You don’t owe me a better you. Let it go. Let it breathe. Young me, I forgive you. Future me, I believe you. I used to look back and see mistakes. Now I see someone trying to survive long enough to become me.
