Lyrics written by @Arloma. We grew up near the harbor road, where the old men fixed their boats. You kept coins in a matchbox tin, I kept secrets in my coat. We said weโd leave when we were older, buy a car and chase the rain. But you always turned your head back when the sea called out your name. Ano hi no koe ga The voice from that day mada mune ni nokoru. still remains in my heart. Chiisana yakusoku, That small promise ima mo kienai. still hasnโt disappeared. Toki wa nagarete, Time has passed, machinami mo kawatta. and the town has changed too. Soredemo bokura wa But even so, ano umi ni iru. we are still by that sea. So I came back with a lantern, and your photo in my hand. I stood where we used to talk too much, kicking holes into the sand. Akari o tomoshite, I lit the lantern nami e sotto hanashita. and gently released it to the waves. Sayonara janakute, It is not goodbye, mata aeru hi made. but until the day we meet again. Kita no machi e kimi wa itta, You went to a town in the north furui kaban hitotsu de. with only one old bag. โDaijoubu,โ tte waratta kao, The face you made when you smiled and said, โIโll be okay,โ ima mo wasurerarenai. I still canโt forget it. Denwa ga natta fuyu no yoru, The phone rang on a winter night, shiranai koe ga naiteita. and an unfamiliar voice was crying. โKare wa mou nagaku nai,โ โHe doesnโt have much time left,โ sono kotoba dake ga ochita. those were the only words that fell. I drove through rain and morning fog, six hours with no song. Had a thousand things to tell you, but I waited far too long. Akari o tomoshite, I lit the lantern nami e sotto hanashita. and gently released it to the waves. Sayonara janakute, It is not goodbye, mata aeru hi made. but until the day we meet again. So I came back with a lantern, and your name caught in my chest. Some people leave the room too soon, but never leave the rest. I found the driftwood by the stairs, half-buried after rain. My name was almost gone by then, but yours still looked the same. ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฎ ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฎ Wasurenai yo, I wonโt forget waratta hi mo. the days we laughed. Kuyashii yoru mo, The bitter nights too, futari no uta mo. and the song that belonged to both of us. So I came back with a lantern, not to ask the sky for more. Just to say I should have called you, just to stand here like before. Akari wa yurete, The lantern flickered hoshi no hou e nagareta. and drifted toward the stars. Kimi wa koko ni iru, You are here, boku no naka ni iru. you are still inside me. The tide came in so quietly, and took what I couldnโt say. Mata aeru hi made, Until the day we meet again, my friend, mata aeru hi made. Until the day we meet again,
