9. Seven Deadly Movement I: The Vision on Patmos & The Heavenly Throne
Verse 1: It started in the garden with a whisper in the tree, A promise of a kingdom where the creature wouldn't kneel. Pride built a tower reaching up to touch the sun, Forgetting that the clay is not the Hand that made it run. Then Envy looked across the field at Abel’s rising smoke, A poison in the brotherhood, a heavy, bitter yoke. It looks upon a neighbor's blessing, calling it a curse, And trades a heart of gratitude to fill a hollow purse. [Chorus] [Drums enter, full harmony] Oh, seven dark shadows walking through the dust, Turning silver into ashes, turning gold to rust. We are broken vessels holding onto clay, Lord, wash us in the river, sweep the dark away! [Verse 2: Wrath & Sloth] [Steady, driving beat] Wrath lit a fire in the middle of the night, A roaring flame of anger that burns out every light. It forgets the words of proverb, forgets the soft reply, And leaves a trail of ruins underneath a darkened sky. While Sloth sits in silence as the harvest turns to seed, Folding hands in slumber while the hungry scream in need. A talent buried in the dirt, a lamp without an oil, A spirit growing weary of the holy, living toil. [Chorus] Oh, seven dark shadows walking through the dust, Turning silver into ashes, turning gold to rust. We are broken vessels holding onto clay, Lord, wash us in the river, sweep the dark away! [Bridge: Greed, Gluttony, & Wandering Heart] [Tempo slows, dramatic buildup] Greed counts the shekels while the soul begins to starve, Making golden calves out of the stone we try to carve. Gluttony takes the bread meant for the poor and weak, Filling up the body while the spirit grows too meek. And the wandering heart turns away from faithful light, Chasing after shadows in the middle of the night. Who can save a heart of stone? Who can clear the debt? There is a cross on Golgotha the shadows haven't met! --- [Chorus] [Triumphant, full band] Oh, seven dark shadows walking through the dust, Turning silver into ashes, turning gold to rust. We are broken vessels holding onto clay, Lord, wash us in the river, sweep the dark away! [Outro] Where sin runs deep, grace runs deeper still, A quiet voice of mercy echo’s down the hill. No shadow stands against the morning ray— The clay is made whole today. [Fade out]
