Keep That Heart Beatin’ (Live from Tootsie's Orchid Lounge)

[Dark Room / Crowd Chatter / Glasses / Stage Noise] [Crowd Begins Cheering as Colt Walks Onstage] [Colt Steps to Microphone] How we doin', Nashville? [CROWD ERUPTS] Ohhh, man... Look at this place. [Colt Laughs] Welcome to Tootsie's, everybody. Thank y'all so damn much for bein' here with us tonight. [Applause] Before we get stupid... [Crowd Laughs] Before the whiskey starts talkin'... Before I start makin' questionable decisions up here... [Laughter] I wanna start tonight with somethin' that actually means a whole lot to me. [Room Begins Settling] I had the opportunity to be part of Songs for a Cause and Songs of Love... Making music for people who might need a little somethin' to hold onto. For kids fightin' battles no kid should ever have to fight... For older folks who've lived a whole lifetime of stories... And for families who just need somebody to remind 'em... They're not fightin' alone. [Warm Applause] And when we wrote this one... The whole idea was pretty damn simple. [Pause] If you're still here... There's still another mile. Another sunrise. Another laugh. Another song. [Colt Looks Back at Band] So wherever you are... Whatever you're carryin'... Just keep that damn heart beatin'. [Single Deep Kick — BOOM] [Pause] BOOM. [Soft Acoustic Guitar Begins] This is Keep That Heart Beatin'. [Verse 1 — Colt Almost Alone] Sunrise cuttin' through the blinds Whole world movin' one beat at a time Dust on the dash Tank half full Still ridin' strong When the road gets rough Hands up high out the truck window Bass line hittin' like a soul reviver Every breath got a little more fight... Every heartbeat sayin'... I'm alive. [Upright Bass Enters / Soft Pedal Steel] [Pre-Chorus] Ain't no givin' up now... We too far gone Hear that rhythm poundin'... Like a highway song. [Drums Build] [Chorus] So KEEP THAT HEART BEATIN' Keep that soul breathin' Hands to the sky If you still believe it Life gets hard But we still lean in Keep that hope rollin' Keep those wheels goin' Every little pulse Got a purpose in it So keep that... Heart beatin'. [Band Holds / Crowd Cheers] [Fiddle Lifts Into Verse 2] [Verse 2] Bonfire sparks And a backroad breeze Good people still got What you need One call away When the world feels heavy We all break down... But we don't stay empty. Heart goes boom Through the speakers loud Whole damn room Singin' every word right now No matter how dark Them clouds might get... That little rhythm... Ain't stopped yet. [Pre-Chorus — Bigger] Ain't no givin' up now! We too far gone Hear that rhythm poundin'... Like a highway song! [Chorus] So KEEP THAT HEART BEATIN' Keep that soul breathin' Hands to the sky If you still believe it Life gets hard But we still lean in Keep that hope rollin' Keep those wheels goin' Every little pulse Got a purpose in it So keep that... Heart beatin'. [Band Abruptly Stops] [Only Deep Kick Remains] BOOM... [Pause] BOOM... [Pause] BOOM... [Bridge — Colt Softly] Right now... You're alive. [Heartbeat] Sometimes... That's enough. [Heartbeat] One more mile... One more song... One more night... To hold on. [Colt — speaking over heartbeat] And if today was hard... Make it to tomorrow. If tomorrow's hard... Make it to the next one. [Soft Piano Enters] You don't gotta have the whole damn road figured out tonight. [Pause] Just take... One more step. [Heartbeat] One more breath. [Heartbeat] One more... Beat. [Full Band Begins Building] [Colt] Tootsie's... If you're still with me... Put those hands up! [CROWD ERUPTS / BAND KICKS IN] [Final Chorus — HUGE] So KEEP THAT HEART BEATIN'! Keep that crowd singin'! Light that fire up If you still feel it Whole world moves When the love starts hittin' Keep those dreams rollin' Keep your light showin' Every little pulse Got a purpose in it [Colt] Come on! [Both Colt + Backing Vocals] KEEP THAT HEART BEATIN'! Keep that soul breathin'! Keep that hope rollin'! Keep believin'! [Band Hits] Every little pulse... Got a purpose in it... So keep... That... HEART BEATIN'! [Huge Final Band Hit] [CROWD ERUPTS / WHISTLES / APPLAUSE] [Band Keeps a Light Groove Under Colt] [Colt] NASHVILLE! [Crowd Roars] Welcome to Live at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge! [Huge Cheer] My name's Colt Buckington Jr... These crazy sons of bitches behind me are gonna be makin' noise all night... [Band Plays Quick Flourish] We got some old songs... Some new songs... Some friends comin' out... And I'm pretty damn sure there's enough whiskey in this building to make the rest up as we go. [Crowd Laughs / Cheers] So grab somebody you love... Grab somethin' cold... And let's have ourselves a damn night. [Band Launches Into Transition / Crowd Roars]
