A Night on 37th st
(Intro — low, almost tired) Ayy… This ain’t even a party no more… This a whole situation… 37th Street… you already know… (Hook — slow, hypnotic) One long night, we ain’t seen the sun, Laughin’ too hard but the joke ain’t fun. Room full spun, everybody undone, Say we livin’ fast — we just tryin’ to outrun. Mind go dark but I play it off smooth, Say I’m in control but I got nothin’ to lose. Those 37th street nights, yeah we stuck in the loop… Same bad choices every time we regroup. (Verse 1 — arrival, funny chaos) Pulled up late, door cracked, walked right in, Didn’t know who lived there but I knew my friends. Music too loud, floor already sticky, Somebody passed out, somebody actin’ tricky. I grabbed a cup — didn’t ask what it was, Took two sips, said “yeah I’m good off this.” Shorty laughed, said “you always like that,” I said “nah, I’m just leanin’ where the night at.” 37th deep, we don’t check no vibe, If it feel off, we just amplify. Dude got mad ‘cause I took his seat, I said “stand up then,” now he starin’ at me. Whole room tense for a second then it broke, Somebody cracked a joke — now we all back to jokes. That’s how it go, we don’t sit in truth, We just laugh it off ‘til it look like proof. (Hook) One long night, we ain’t seen the sun, Laughin’ too hard but the joke ain’t fun. (Verse 2 — spiral, darker humor) Hours go by but the clock don’t move, Same song playin’ but we still in the groove. I said somethin’ wild, they laughed too hard, Couldn’t tell if I was jokin’ or just fallin’ apart. Shorty in the corner got tears in her eyes, But she still smilin’ when somebody pass by. I noticed that, then I looked away quick, We don’t get deep — we just add to the mix. Somebody yell “we alive!” like it’s true, But we just loud, that ain’t the same view. I keep pourin’ up like I’m fillin’ a hole, But it leak right out — never touch my soul. Dude in the mirror said he don’t feel real, I laughed it off but I knew the deal. Whole house shift but nobody leave, Like we stuck in a loop we don’t wanna see. (Bridge — eerie, slowed) Sun start creepin’ through the blinds… Nobody sleep… nobody fine… Same night playin’ in my mind… Laugh now… crash later… every time… (Verse 3 — aftermath, quiet dark) Now it’s quiet, same room, different feel, Half the crew gone, half too numb to deal. Cups still full, but nobody drinkin’, Everybody stuck in their own lil’ thinkin’. I step outside, cold air hit my chest, First real breath I took all night, I guess. Look back in — see myself in the frame, Same cycle, same faces, same game. I say “I’m done,” but it sound rehearsed, Like I said it before and it didn’t work. Phone buzz twice, I ignore that call, Might be my way out… or not at all. I light one more, just to clear my head… Then walk back in like I never left. (Hook — final, heavier) One long night, we ain’t seen the sun, Laughin’ too hard but the joke ain’t fun. (Outro — quiet, almost empty) Ayy… Same night… different day… 37th… We’ll be right back here…
