I asked, and I received. Not because I earned it, but because the world, it seemed, was willing to give. The first request was small, the second a little more. I didn't notice how, instead of gratitude, I kept asking for more, and more. Every yes made the next no unthinkable. I stopped asking myself if I needed it. I only asked if it would come. No one announces the limit in advance. It just arrives, where an answer used to be, silence settles in. And the silence turns out louder than any refusal. I stood among everything I had, and couldn't remember what I'd truly needed, and what I'd only asked for because I could. The world never got tired of giving. I forgot why I was asking.
