[Intro] [slowed elevator muzak, fluorescent hum, distant PA chime] (PA voice, distorted) Attention shoppers... the mall is now closed. [Verse 1] I fell asleep in the fitting room Woke up to the lights on low Every shutter pulled down halfway Every sign says "Back Soon", so The fountain's dry but I hear water Somewhere past the food court seats And the music keeps on playing Like it's waiting just for me [Pre-Chorus] (whispered) Escalator going up Nobody on the stairs [Chorus] Empty mall, three AM Neon breathing in the dark Every window shows my face In a store that's closed for years Attention, attention They're calling out my name Empty mall, three AM And I'm the only one who came [Verse 2] The mannequins were facing the window Now they're watching from the hall There's a TV in the shop front Showing me against the wall Pay phone ringing by the exit But the exit isn't there Just another flight of escalators Climbing up to nowhere [Pre-Chorus] (whispered) Don't look at the cameras Don't let them see you stare [Chorus] Empty mall, three AM Neon breathing in the dark Every window shows my face In a store that's closed for years Attention, attention They're calling out my name Empty mall, three AM And I'm the only one who came [Bridge] [muzak slows and detunes, drum machine kicks in, synth bass pulses] (PA voice, distorted) Would the girl in the fitting room... Please make her way to the service desk... Your family is waiting... Your family is waiting... (whispered) I don't have a family here [Final Chorus] [heavy, industrial] Empty mall, three AM Every light goes out but one Attention, attention They've been waiting since I was young Empty mall, three AM Store is open, come inside Empty mall, three AM Stay with us till closing time [Outro] [muzak returns, warped and slow, PA chime] (PA voice, distorted) Thank you for shopping with us... (whispered) ...forever.
