[Intro — Spoken Male Voice, Dark and Intense] I was guilty. I was lost. I could never pay the cost. But grace came looking. Mercy called my name. And Jesus Christ Has broken every chain! AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU! [Verse 1] I saw the darkness in my soul, A broken heart beyond control. No human goodness could erase The mountain of my guilt and shame. But from the heart of God above, There flowed a river full of love. The grace that found me in my night Has brought me from the dark to light! [Pre-Chorus — Building] Not by my works! Not by my name! I stand forgiven Through Jesus' name! [Chorus — Explosive Hard Rock] AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU! BUT JESUS MADE YOU NEW! WASHED! SANCTIFIED! JUSTIFIED! BY THE SPIRIT OF OUR GOD ALIVE! FREE GRACE! AMAZING GRACE! THE LOVE OF GOD HAS TAKEN MY PLACE! NO SIN TOO DEEP! NO SOUL TOO FAR! COME TO JESUS JUST AS YOU ARE! [Verse 2] There is a fountain filled with blood, Drawn from Emmanuel's veins. And sinners plunged beneath that flood Lose all their guilty stains! The guilt is gone, the debt is paid, The old foundation starts to fade. The Spirit makes the heart anew, And Christ makes all things new! [Pre-Chorus — Building] Not by my works! Not by my name! I stand forgiven Through Jesus' name! [Chorus — Full Band] AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU! [Verse 3 — Driving Rhythm] Washed from the guilt that stained my past, Sanctified by a love that lasts. Justified by the Savior's blood, Brought from the ashes into God's love. Not just forgiven, not merely free, A marvelous change is working in me. The Spirit of God has opened my eyes, And given me life that will never die! [Breakdown — Half-Time, Heavy] WASHED! The guilt removed! SANCTIFIED! The heart made new! JUSTIFIED! His righteousness! JESUS CHRIST! My hope, my rest! [Spoken — Quiet, Urgent] You don't have to clean yourself up first. You don't have to earn His favor. You don't have to trust in your own strength. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Trust Him to forgive you. Trust Him to change you. Trust Him to carry you home. The promise is not that you might be saved someday. The promise is everlasting life for the one who believes in the Son. [Bridge — Rising Choir and Guitars] Grace from the Father! Blood from the Son! Life by the Spirit! The work is done! No boasting in my righteousness, No confidence in my success. My only plea, my only claim: JESUS CHRIST AND HIS SAVING NAME! [Final Chorus — Maximum Power] AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU! BUT JESUS MADE YOU NEW! WASHED! SANCTIFIED! JUSTIFIED! BY THE SPIRIT OF OUR GOD ALIVE! FREE GRACE! AMAZING GRACE! LET ALL THE WORLD PROCLAIM HIS NAME! NO SIN TOO DEEP! NO SOUL TOO FAR! THERE'S MERCY AT THE CROSS OF CALVARY! WASHED! SANCTIFIED! JUSTIFIED! BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST! [Outro — Gang Vocals] Such were some of you! But you've been washed! Such were some of you! But you've been changed! Such were some of you! ALL BY GRACE! ALL BY GRACE! [Spoken Outro] Charles Haddon Spurgeon. Spurgeon Gems dot org. Go there and explore!
