CH 7: Auditors of the Void

V6

Light… thunder… the Word begins… Records… files… nothing but silence… Yeah… let’s begin… Saw the light break through the void, heard the thunder of the Word Everything that ever was in a single moment stirred Probert stares at pages, dense and cosmic, fine and grand So complex and magnificent no mortal could understand He reads the hidden meanings, every symbol, every line Says “you’re gibbering monkeys — you haven’t evolved enough to shine!” They say he’s unapproachable, sharp and hard to reach He thinks it’s motivation — they just want a word of speech! WE AUDIT NOTHING — WE JUST READ THE PAGE! IS THE WHOLE SYSTEM FROZEN IN A GOLDEN AGE? [Vocoder hook] Silence… perfect… silence… “Last time we went out — around 300 AD with the Gnostic band!” Cherie leans forward, makes her stand “They said the spark was trapped inside the flesh and bone That the soul could never sin — let the body run on its own!” Probert perks up, eyes light up with a spark “Absolute mess! How do you fix that kind of dark? They couldn’t sin — so how could they be wrong? I wrote the whole report — it was my favourite one all along!” She says “What about Hell? What about the fires below
