17. Ladder to the Skies- — Inspired by Genesis 27–28
Verse 1 The fire’s low, the night is still, Isaac’s fading eyes can’t see the hill. A trembling voice, a mother’s plan, The blessing falls on another man. The wool‑wrapped arms, the borrowed name, A whispered lie that shifts the flame. Esau’s cry breaks through the door, And Jacob runs forevermore. Chorus Blessing on the run, Shadowed by the things he’s done. Yet the promise still unfolds, In a story long foretold. Blessing on the run, Under moon and rising sun. Grace will meet him where he lies, With a ladder to the skies. Verse 2 The desert wind cuts through his fear, A brother’s rage still ringing near. A stone for rest, a heart undone, A fugitive beneath the stars begun. But heaven breaks the silent air, A stairway rising everywhere. Angels moving, up and down, A holy voice upon the ground. Pre‑Chorus “I am with you, don’t be shaken, Every step, you won’t be forsaken.” Chorus Blessing on the run, Shadowed by the things he’s done. Yet the promise still unfolds, In a story long foretold. Blessing on the run, Under moon and rising sun. Grace will meet him where he lies, With a ladder to the skies. Bridge Surely the Lord is in this place, Though I was blind to see His face. This stone will stand, this vow I raise, My life is Yours for all my days. Oil on the rock, a promise spoken, A wandering heart no longer broken. Final Chorus Blessing on the run, Still becoming who he’ll become. In the night he saw the sign, Heaven’s promise intertwined. Blessing on the run, But the story’s just begun. God will meet him where he lies, With a ladder to the skies. Outro A stone, a name, a rising dawn, The God of promise leads him on.
