[Verse 1] I found a mango in the backseat Bruised gold, warm from the day Sticky drip on my fingers Like summer ran away You laughed, said “take it easy” While the sun cut through the glass Now that fruit on the seat between us Feels like the world goes fast [Pre-Chorus] One bite And I’m right there Sour sweet In the air You lean in Like you mean it Now I can’t unsee it [Chorus] Backseat mango, backseat mango Stay a little longer, don’t let go Backseat mango, backseat mango Sweet on my tongue, and I know I know This could be our little gold [Verse 2] Your keys in a paper wrapper Receipt folded in half We left the mall and the parking For a road that didn’t ask You said “we should keep moving” But you didn’t start the car So we sat there peeling daylight One seed at a time in jars [Pre-Chorus] One bite And I’m right there Sour sweet In the air You grin like You’ve been hiding Something wild inside it [Chorus] Backseat mango, backseat mango Stay a little longer, don’t let go Backseat mango, backseat mango Sweet on my tongue, and I know I know This could be our little gold [Bridge] If the hour slips by Let it slip If the whole town turns Let it flip I don’t need a map Just your laugh And that yellow stain On the dash [Final Chorus] Backseat mango, backseat mango Stay a little longer, don’t let go Backseat mango, backseat mango Sweet on my tongue, and I know I know Backseat mango, backseat mango One small bite and I’m home again Backseat mango, backseat mango Keep that summer in the van
