[NARRATOR — SPOKEN VOICE ONLY] [DO NOT SING] Today we continue through the Nemenhah Sacred Records with The Book of Hayneht Paynieht Ahkehkt, daughter of Wiiskiht of the Peacemaker. Her story begins with sacrifice. Before Hayneht ever knew her father, a crazed bear entered their village and threatened the children. Her father took up a lance, drew the animal toward himself, and gave his life protecting them. His descendants carried the symbol of the bear and became known as the Bear Clan. Years later, another servant named Kuhtskieht warned the people not to build their homes too close to the river. Many ignored him. Then came a strange winter, heavy snow, sudden warmth, broken ice, and a devastating flood. Those who followed his counsel had moved to higher ground. But Hayneht's greatest story may be what happened afterward at the Great Council. Kuhtskieht had no genealogy he could prove. He did not know his parents or even where he had been born. Some questioned whether such a man had the right to call himself Nemenhah. Then Haympaht Neht stood before the Council and defended him. She reminded the people what they were becoming—and what they had once been. And Hayneht records a beautiful definition: “Nemenhah” means “Peace and Truth.” That changes everything. Being Nemenhah was not simply a matter of ancestry. Kuhtskieht had once been a broken stranger wandering alone in the mountains. The people found him. They welcomed him. They healed him. They taught him. He served them faithfully. And when others questioned whether he belonged, the answer was simple: He is Nemenhah. Hayneht's record later warns of another danger. Religion itself can become a tool of domination. She rejects teachings that take away agency, diminish women and children, or allow religious leaders and the wealthy to prosper while the poor suffer. The Way of the Peacemaker is different. It welcomes. It serves. It protects agency. It cares for the poor. It seeks truth. And it makes strangers family. Perhaps that is the great message of Hayneht Paynieht Ahkehkt. When fear divides us, remember the Peacemaker. When pride asks who belongs, remember the stranger. And when we speak the name Nemenhah, remember what the Record says it means: Peace and Truth. [MUSIC GENTLY BUILDS] [BEGIN SINGING — VERY SHORT] Peace and truth... Lead the Way... Make us one... Day by day... Peacemaker... Guide us through... Let us walk... In peace and truth. [END]
