All My Friends Are On Watch Lists

[Verse 1] Well I called up Joe, but he ain’t pickin' up Might be hidin' from the feds or just runnin' outta luck He’s on the FBI’s radar, since ‘73 Got a file thicker than a Texas oak tree Old Bill’s got the ATF sniffin' his trail Somethin' 'bout moonshine, or maybe he jumped bail He used to brew whiskey in the back of his shed Now the lawmen say they want him alive or dead [Chorus] All my friends are on watch lists, lord, what can I say From the FBI to the CIA The ATF, and the DEA They’re watchin' us close, every night, every day [Verse 2] Sally’s been hidin’ from the DEA too She had a few plants, just a small garden view But the sheriff came snoopin’, kicked in her back door Now she’s layin' low, just like an outlaw of yore Tommy’s got the CIA chasin' his tail He’s convinced they’re trackin’ him through his mail He’s always lookin’ over his shoulder, never still He swears Area 51’s payin’ his bills [Chorus] All my friends are on watch lists, lord, what can I say From the FBI to the CIA The ATF, and the DEA They’re watchin' us close, every night, every day [Bridge] I guess it’s just the price of the life that we live Dodgin' them boys who got badges to give We ain't hurtin' no one, just ridin' the wind But to them alphabet letters, we're all bound to sin [Verse 3] Now me, I’m no angel, I’ve had my share They say I’m too wild, got that rebel flair But I ain’t done nothin' that I’m ashamed to say Just livin’ like an outlaw, goin’ my own way [Chorus] All my friends are on watch lists, lord, what can I say From the FBI to the CIA The ATF, and the DEA They’re watchin' us close, every night, every day [Outro] Yeah they’re watchin' us close, from the big to the small But they ain't catchin' me, no not at all All my friends are on watch lists, it’s just how it goes In the land of the free, where freedom's just a show
