The Walker in the Vastness

(Verse 1) Walking by A country road, with a hole in my shoes, Hoping no one sees, dusty and windy road, I look at it and think: “it’s like my future”, a bit blurry. Behind me, stays the past, my family and my home That did not last, It will take some time, until I’m no longer alone. (Pre-chorus) No complaints as I move, this was the path I chose. Under the punishing sun, as the heat grows. My shadow is the only companion by my side. Looking for a shelter, with nowhere to hide. (Chorus) I am the walker in this vastness so wide. Searching in the wind for some peace inside. Hours passing by, not a single tree to see. Just my own steps and the person I’ll be. (Verse 2) Finally a creek, a small tree comes into view. I soak my feet as the day turns into a different hue. Suddenly in the branches, a whistle I heard. Pure music to my ears from a little bird. (Bridge) I joined my voice to its summer song. For a moment, we both felt we belonged. It flapped its wings, inviting me to fly away. “I have no wings”, was all I could say. (Pre-chorus) It flew away and I was left there on my own. Talking to birds, perhaps I’ve finally outgrown. What would people say about this connection? But in my heart, I feel a deep reflection. (Chorus) I am the walker in this vastness so wide. Searching in the wind for some peace inside. Hours passing by, not a single tree to see. Just my own steps and the person I’ll be. (Outro) With a smile in my heart and on my face. I restart my walking at my own pace. To the setting sun, to the road and its light. Carrying this peace, through the coming night.
