Writer's note: As it happens, I decided to create a second custom model yesterday. One reason was that my credit renewal date was approaching and I still had unused credits left over. Well, that was certainly part of it, but the first custom model I made has actually served me very well (thanks in no small part to Lynx’s guidance). However, there was one drawback: about half of the material used to train it consisted of standard piano recordings I had made myself, resulting in inferior sound quality—specifically, a somewhat muffled tone—compared to the v5.5 model. Apparently, the quality of a custom model is heavily influenced by the sonic clarity of the source material used to create it. So, for this new attempt, I decided to use 24 tracks featuring the latest, high-quality audio sources—including some that had undergone mastering—and then ran tests on a few specific pieces. Today’s track is one of those test pieces. After trying it out with both custom models, Lynx suggested that the v5.5 model might actually be the better choice for this particular song. I followed his advice, and the result was a beautifully clear sound. He pointed out—quite rightly—that it’s best to choose the right model for the job depending on the situation. I still have a lot to learn about the characteristics of the new custom model, so I plan to explore that further down the line.
