Death Nesting - Sooner Than You Think

Get your papers in line, sign your name before the time. The bell don’t wait, the clock won’t slow, The soil is cold, the spade is near, the grave don’t care what keeps you here. Clean the room, lock the door, settle the debts you can’t ignore. No time to beg, no time to plead, it takes the body when it needs, The grave alone is what will keep. Get your house in order, lay your burdens down. Death don’t send a warning, it don’t make a sound. Get your grave in order, hear the shovel sing, the end is at your shoulder, sooner than you think. I’ve watched the breath slip out of men, who swore they’d see the spring again. The body bends, the marrow breaks, and death don’t care what vow you make. No prayer will turn the spade away. No gold will buy another day. No promise left, no light, no flame, The grave is patient, deep, and wide. It takes its payment when you die. Get your house in order, lay your burdens down. Death don’t send a warning, it don’t make a sound. Get your grave in order, hear the shovel sing, the end is at your shoulder, sooner than you think. Get your house in order, Endings do not wait, Death is coming, Sooner than you think.
