Intro radio talk. The police are searching for an armed veteran, a decorated soldier. He is suffering from extreme PTSD. The police arrived at his address just recently and found him rugged and messy. It ended in tragedy: the police shot his dog, which, accordingly, acted aggressively. The former Marine attacked and seriously wounded the sheriff and the deputy single-handedly; both are in a coma, apparently. Then he disappeared. We spoke with relatives of the former Marine, and they said they tried getting treatment and help from the authorities, but all they met was a wall of bureaucracy. Anyway, the search continues, and we'll get back to you. Back to the studio. Verse 1: Hunted and alone, he doesn't even know.
In his mind, he is at war.
He doesn't know where he is, but in the distance, he can hear something.
He wonders why he's alone.
He calls out to his comrades in arms, but no one answers his call.
He's all alone, behind enemy lines.
When the last of the light fades into night,
He falls in and out of reality.
He tries to collect his sanity, but it all feels blurry.
He can see the enemy, but they look somehow differently — something just isn’t right.
He turns and runs into the night.
He stumbles and falls, but he keeps on going. Chorus: Running scared, forgotten and feared,
They gave everything for nothing.
We called them heroes.
Sons of poor men, sacrificed for Washington. Verse 2: His mind is lost.
He screams at shadows, wet and cold He shivers and calls ,on his dead comrades' souls, those who keep haunting his mind.
He's surrounded by darkness.
His internal pain has driven him insane.
The hero is forever gone.
Inside his madness, all he knows is war.
He's running into the unknown.
Suddenly, he's surrounded by men, screaming his name,
But he doesn't know who he is anymore. Chorus: Running scared, forgotten and feared,
They gave everything for nothing.
We called them heroes.
Sons of poor men, sacrificed for Washington. Outro radio Talk: The former Marine was shot and killed after not responding to police last night deep in the national park. He was unarmed when they found him. This is a tragedy. The family has been informed, and another sad ending. Now, back to the studio.
