The Fight Song for Calcium
I slammed my head into the exit sign because nobody was leaving fast enough there were alarms made of breath and someone whispering dental records in Latin I stapled my flag to a molar chewed on war like bubblegum spit it out — no flavor still felt like someone won shadow boxed a toothbrush lost by unanimous whisper but I’m back in the ring with fluoride and a blister Sometimes I don’t know what I’m fighting! But I gotta win for the victims of calcium! I don’t trust anyone who has all their teeth! The bones remember being stolen! They built the city out of chalk then blamed us for the rain I woke up with wires taped to my molars no explanation, just a signal that hummed “go” I don’t read history anymore I gnaw it until the page goes soft and the facts drip out onto the floor where nobody cleans oooh... Sometimes I don’t know what I’m fighting! But I gotta win for the victims of calcium! There were fossils where there should’ve been fruit and nobody apologized for the bone-hunger I headbutt the mirror just to see me I don't think dentists lie he asked me to scream until the cracks aligned and I did and they didn’t Sometimes I don’t know what I’m fighting! I gotta win for them though calcium is just a story we were told in paste and I swallowed it win for the... ...CALCIUM...
