WINDY MOUTH 3.0
[Verse 1] Well, listening to you is like leaning into a cold wind blowing through an empty street at midnight. [Verse 2] My story spills from my mouth, raw as blood on a knuckle, rough and true. [Verse 3] I speak from the bottom of a deep, dark place where the echoes bend and bruise. [Verse 4] Every word I drop sinks slow as stone, disappearing down the mouth of a well. [Verse 5] I send it out and watch it thin to smoke, then vanish in the air. [Verse 6] You hear the splash, but you don’t see the depth, or the black water underneath. [Verse 7] I’ve been talking with my shadow for too long, under the weak light of a sleepless room. [Verse 8] It answers back in a language made of dust, cracked floorboards, and silence. [Verse 9] The wind takes what I mean and rips it apart, scattering pieces across the dark. [Verse 10] Still I keep talking when I talk to you, even when the night swallows my breath. [Verse 11] There’s a history in my teeth and in my throat, old as rusted nails and hard winter. [Verse 12] There’s a bruise where the truth keeps landing, purple and tender under the skin. [Verse 13] I learned to sing with my hands in the dark, fingers tracing the shape of a prayer. [Verse 14] I learned to pray with my jaw shut tight, holding back the tremble in my bones. [Verse 15] Deep in the well, the water tastes like rust and old coins left in rain. [Verse 16] Deep in the well, I hear my name fall back, hollow and wet against the stone. [Verse 17] I’m not cleaning it up, I’m saying it plain, bare as a branch in winter. [Verse 18] I’m not dressing the wound, I’m opening it, letting the air get in. [Verse 19] Pissing in the wind, I’m still standing here, soaked and stubborn in the dark. [Verse 20] Talking to you like the night can listen, like the stars are leaning close. [Verse 21] The moon hangs low like a pale witness above, watching everything I say. [Verse 22] The road behind me is full of broken vowels, scattered like glass in the dust. [Verse 23] The road ahead is a mouth with no teeth, wide and waiting in the dark. [Verse 24] I came this far on a voice that cracked, worn thin by miles and bad weather. [Verse 25] I came this far on a heart that burned, bright and blistered under pressure. [Verse 26] So let me tell it from my mouth to yours, close enough to feel the heat. [Verse 27] Let me pour the whole thing out and call it mine, every drop and every scar. [Verse 28] Let the echoes live where the echoes live, in the hollow walls and dead air. [Verse 29] Let the wind take aim and miss again, whistling through the wires and trees. [Verse 30] Well, listening to you is like leaning into a cold wind blowing through an empty street at midnight.
