(Verse 1) Now the grasshopper jumpin' up high in the air, But he don't got the rhythm, he ain't got the flair! The mosquito complainin' and buzzin' around, But it's the beetle thats makin' the beautiful sound! I tell the busy red ant workin' hard in the dirt, "Put down that heavy leaf, man, your shoulders gonna hurt!" (Verse 2) I see the praying mantis foldin' hands up to pray, I say, "Relax your little arms, man, you've been at it all day!" I tell the frantic millipede shoppin' for some new shoes, "With a hundred little feet, friend, you got too much to lose!" The spider gettin' dizzy from spinnin' his web, I tell him, "Leave the bugs alone, come and party instead!" (Chorus) So dance, dance, dance, little beetle, Show off your shiny green shell! Tap, tap, tap, little beetle, Dance in the tropical swell! (Bridge / Call and Response) Shake your antennae! (Shake, shake!) Wiggle your wings! (Wiggle, wiggle!) Listen to the melody the cicada sings! (Oh yeah!) Step to the left now! (Step, step!) Step to the right! (Step, step!) We gonna be boppin' for the rest of the night! (Hey!) (Verse 3) The bumblebee hummin' a sweet melody, He bringin' the nectar for you and for me! The butterfly flutter, she lookin' so sweet, But the beetle is king of the jungle summer beat! I tell the grumpy little wasp with the sting on his tail, "Put a smile on your face, let the good vibes prevail!" When the firefly light up the dark canopy, It's time for the beetle to dance by the tree! (Chorus) So dance, dance, dance, little beetle, Show off your shiny green shell! Tap, tap, tap, little beetle, Dance in the tropical swell! (One more time!) Dance, dance, dance, little beetle, March to the calypso beat! Tap, tap, tap, little beetle, Stompin' your six little feet! (Outro) Go beetle, go! Keep on dancin'! Tell the termite to stop eatin' the stage! Ah, yeah! (Fade out with tropical percussion and brass horns)
