Grimfang - The Forest Never Converted (Ethereal Witchwood Version)

THE FOREST NEVER CONVERTED [INTRO – wind through trees | distant thunder | slow tremolo guitar] They came with stone And sacred names With books of fire And promises of heaven They crossed the rivers And entered the ancient woods Believing all things Could be claimed [BLAST BEAT ENTRY – cold tremolo riff] They raised their altars Where old roots slept Carved symbols Into living bark Named the mountains Named the rivers Named the sky As though a name Could make a thing belong [VERSE II – relentless black metal] The forest watched Unmoved Empires rose beneath its branches Kings bent their knees Priests raised their hands And generations disappeared Like leaves in winter [CHORUS – expansive atmospheric black metal] The forest never converted The pine bowed to no gospel The oak learned no prayer The rivers carried no scripture The forest never converted Though bells echoed through the valleys Though crosses crowned the hills The roots remained unchanged [ATMOSPHERIC INTERLUDE – slower tremolo | distant ambience] Snow fell Upon shrine and stone alike The wolf knew no doctrine The raven spoke no creed And beneath the earth The roots continued Their silent work [HUGE BRIDGE – majestic atmosphere | layered guitars] Cathedrals rose And cast their shadows Across the wilderness For a little while The fires of men burned brightly The hymns climbed toward the heavens The faithful believed Their kingdom eternal Yet the forest had seen A thousand eternities Before the first altar And would witness A thousand more After the last [BUILDING SECTION – drums intensify] Moss entered the sanctuaries Rain entered the halls Stone surrendered To root and season And every prayer Returned to silence [FINAL CHORUS – triumphant] The forest never converted It waited It endured It remembered The mountains remained The rivers remained The trees remained And all gods passed away [OUTRO – fading tremolo | wind] The bells are gone The roots remain The forest never converted
