Cipher Citizen- Brown Future Rising
[INTRO — spoken / vinyl crackle] They say the economy is strong… But walk through the neighborhood. Look at the rent. Look at the grocery receipt. Look at the gas pump. Then ask the working family how strong they feel. Cypher Citizen. ⸻ [VERSE 1] Another month, another bill, another price increase, working overtime just trying to purchase some peace. Rent climbing higher while the paycheck stays still, groceries getting smaller but the total gets bigger still. Gas at the pump taking money from the family, every dollar disappears with the cost of necessities. Politicians debate while the people calculate, “Can I pay the mortgage and still put food on the plate?” That’s the conversation happening behind closed doors, parents trying to give their children something more. Not asking for luxury, not demanding a throne, just a fair opportunity to build something of their own. And I refuse to let division become the solution, because working people everywhere are facing the same pressure. Different languages, different cultures, different stories, but everybody deserves dignity, opportunity, and glory. ⸻ [HOOK] Brown future rising, hear the heartbeat pound, From the barrio streets to every working-class town. We don’t need hatred, we don’t need war, We need education, opportunity, and something more. Brown future rising, let the children see, A future built on knowledge, culture, family, dignity. They can divide us with fear, but we already understand: When the people stand together, we can change the plan. ⸻ [VERSE 2] Chicano culture isn’t something you erase for acceptance, it’s family history, struggle, sacrifice, and resilience. From farm fields to factories, construction to the kitchen, generations worked hard while the country kept on shifting. Abuela had the stories, grandfather had the scars, parents gave their children dreams while reaching for the stars. Now the younger generation’s standing at the crossroads, trying to carry tradition while navigating tomorrow. So teach them about their history—teach them where they came from, teach them that their culture doesn’t make them any less than someone. Teach them English, teach them Spanish, teach them both with pride, give them knowledge so they never have to choose one side. And when immigration becomes another political weapon, remember there’s a human being behind every statistic mentioned. We can have serious conversations without hatred in the sentence, because compassion and accountability can coexist in a democracy. ⸻ [VERSE 3 — RAPID FLOW] Cost of living, housing crisis, healthcare pressure, student debt, food prices, families trying to do better. Working-class America feeling financial weather, while social media keeps convincing us to hate each other. Left versus right—everybody screaming louder, while the middle-class worker keeps getting squeezed harder. I don’t need a politician to tell me who to blame, I need policies that actually improve people’s lives. Accountability— that’s what the citizen demands. Transparency— that’s what democracy requires. Education— that’s how ignorance expires. Community— that’s how a neighborhood rises. Don’t tell me I’m powerless because I’m only one voice, one voice becomes a chorus when the people make a choice. One teacher inspires students, one business creates jobs, one neighborhood organizes and suddenly the pressure stops. ⸻ [BRIDGE — SPOKEN] To the young Chicano listening: Your culture is not a weakness. Your history is not a burden. Your education is not optional. Knowledge is your leverage. Don’t let anybody convince you that your future has already been decided. ⸻ [VERSE 4] Build something. Open businesses. Support your neighbors. Protect your families. Learn the system. Read the books they never gave you in school, learn economics so you understand how the money moves. Learn your rights, learn your history, learn how government works, because an educated citizen knows exactly what their voice is worth. Don’t glorify the struggle— change the circumstances. Don’t glorify poverty— build generational advancement. Don’t teach the children hatred— teach them determination. Because the strongest revolution is building a better situation. I want brown kids seeing lawyers, doctors, artists, CEOs, engineers, teachers, entrepreneurs running their own shows. Not because they’re better than anybody— because they deserve the opportunity. That’s the dream I’m defending. ⸻ [FINAL HOOK] Brown future rising, hear the heartbeat pound, From the barrio streets to every working-class town. We don’t need hatred, we don’t need war, We need education, opportunity, and something more. Brown future rising, let the children see, A future built on knowledge, culture, family, dignity. They can divide us with fear, but we already understand: When the people stand together, we can change the plan. ⸻ [OUTRO — DJ cuts / vinyl rewind] “Know your history…” “Question the powerful!!!
