In Baptism Christ has made Us New
In Baptism Christ has made us new, A treasure none on earth can buy; The Word with water, clear and true, Proclaims His grace will never die. United to the Crucified, Our sins were buried in His grave; With Him we rise, now justified, For Christ has come the lost to save. Forgiveness flows, our guilt undone, The Spirit breathes new life within; Adopted by the Father’s Son, We’re washed and cleansed from death and sin. Not water only, plain and bare, But water with God’s promise sure; The Triune Name is spoken there— The covenant of grace secure. Each day the ancient foe must fall, The self of sin must lose its reign; Through Christ we rise, baptized with all The saints who share His life again. When fears arise and trials near, This font of mercy speaks once more: “Your Savior lives, your hope is here, The flood of grace is still your shore.” So let us walk in paths of light, Renewed in heart, restored in love; Till faith is changed to perfect sight Before the throne of God above. From font to feast, from cross to crown, The Lamb shall claim His ransomed bride; Baptized, we bear His holy gown, And reign with Him, the Crucified.
