Wrong Turn, Right Guy

V6

Three powdered donuts on the passenger seat, Friday patrol down an ordinary street. Matt Rino hit the brakes for a kid in red, With a paint-splattered brush held above his head. He climbed in beside him as the street turned stone, The courthouse grew towers, his signal was gone. A stone giant came crashing through the square, He hit the siren and they flew out of there! No time to ask where the streets had gone, The bridge was shaking, the chase rolled on. The little guy raised his brush, the cop hit the gas, Neither one knew if the paint would last! RED SHIRT! BLUE LIGHTS! (Hey! Hey!) Police sirens on a castle street! ONE BADGE! ONE BRUSH! (Hold on tight!) Wrong turn, right guy, on a Friday night! OH-OH-OH! Around that bend, The road drops out, so they paint it again! RED SHIRT! BLUE LIGHTS! (Hey! Hey!) Wrong turn, right guy, they'd do it again! Whoa-oh-oh! Wrong turn, right guy! Whoa-oh-oh! Red shirt, blue lights! Max brushed a road into empty air, They drove right over like it belonged there. The giant struck the bridge with a thundering crack, The cop kept his foot down and never looked back! One powdered donut went flying somewhere, And landed on a knight with a very stern stare. His passenger laughed first, the cop held it in, Then lost the fight and laughed with him! ONE BADGE! ONE BRUSH! NO BRAKES! GOOD LUCK! At the last exit, the pavement quit, No tire tracks, not a trace of it. He sat for a minute, hands on the wheel, Waiting for the whole thing to stop being real. Then he slid the last donut across the seat, His new friend left sugar all over his sleeve. The cop looked back once, then ahead, And turned toward the castle instead. RED SHIRT! BLUE LIGHTS! WRONG TURN, RIGHT GUY!
