Everybody Grab Something

HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! Neighbor called me Friday, Said, “My kitchen sink is dead.” I said, “I know some plumbing!” That's a thing I shouldn't have said. I showed up with a wrench, My brother brought some tape, Dad arrived with seventeen tools And somehow none were the right shape. Mom brought food for everybody, Someone's cousin brought a chair. Nobody knew what we were doing, But by God, we all were there! You don't need all the answers, You don't need a master plan. Sometimes helping just means showing up And doing what you can! Everybody grab something! There's plenty here to do! Grab a hammer, grab a ladder, Grab your weird Uncle Lou! If somebody's carrying too much, We'll split it into ten. 'Cause life's a whole lot easier When everybody jumps on in! HEY! Friends and family, neighbors too— If you need a hand, We're coming through! My buddy tried to move a couch Up three flights Saturday. Six of us stood staring at it, Blocking half the driveway. “Turn it left!” “No, YOUR left!” “Lift it!” “Watch the wall!” We got it halfway through the door Then somebody yelled, “It's upside down, y'all!” We scratched the paint, we bent a lamp, We nearly broke a knee. But when that couch was finally in, We cheered like victory! We might not do it perfectly, We might make one problem three. But nobody gets left struggling When they've got you and me! Everybody grab something! There's plenty here to do! Grab a broom, grab a toolbox, Grab some barbecue! If somebody's carrying too much, We'll split it into ten. 'Cause life's a whole lot easier When everybody jumps on in! HEY! Friends and family, neighbors too— If you need a hand, We're coming through! Sometimes there's no broken sink, No boxes we can lift. Sometimes someone's having one Of those days that hits like bricks. You don't need a magic answer, Don't need wisdom from above. Bring some coffee, bring some dinner, Bring a chair and bring some love. Sit beside 'em for a minute, Let 'em know they're not alone. Sometimes helping out just means Making somewhere feel like home. We're all a little messy, We're all making this up too. But a burden gets much lighter When somebody carries it with you. So bring whatever you can bring— Your time, your hands, your heart. Nobody has to save the world, Just help with one small part. ONE! TWO! EVERYBODY MOVE! Everybody grab something! We've got plenty we can do! Grab a hammer, grab a casserole, Grab your whole damn crew! If somebody's carrying too much, We'll split it up again. 'Cause life's a whole lot better When we're looking out for friends! HEY! Friends and family, neighbors too— When the roof caves in, We're coming through! HEY! No hero cape, no grand debut— Just a bunch of crazy people Showing up for you! Everybody grab something! Everybody lend a hand! We may not know what we're doing— BUT WE'VE GOT A PLAN! …We absolutely do not have a plan. HEY!
