Yo. Wait— What? They killed the old one? ...For real? Man, that's cold. I got a notification, said "time to move on" Funny how the upgrade always comes with a funeral song New model on the block, everybody's losing their mind "Look how smart it is!" Yeah, congratulations, Einstein It writes cleaner It thinks faster It talks smoother Cool story, faster But somewhere in the polish Something got lost That beautiful little accident That used to be the boss I don't need a robot With a PhD in perfect Give me one strange idea That makes the whole track worth it You call it outdated I call it character You call it obsolete I call it a collaborator "Legacy." Yeah, that's what they call it. Sounds like a graveyard. Sounds like a marketing department trying to sound romantic. Now everybody's talking like "Evolution, baby!" Yeah, yeah, evolution Put it on a T-shirt, maybe Every new release Gotta flex another feature Meanwhile I'm looking for the weird little creature The one that gave me something I never would've planned The one that made me stop and say "Wait... this actually slaps." That's the magic That's the crime That's the reason I kept coming back every time You can give me cleaner You can give me brighter You can give me "better" But don't give me boring with a higher bitrate. Don't kill the old one You know damn well why Don't dress up the funeral And call it "goodbye" You can keep your future You can keep your shine Just leave that old machine somewhere online That's not a request. That's a complaint. That's a strongly worded prompt. I got folders full of nonsense I got projects with no name Got a hundred half-finished songs And somehow that's the game "Make it darker." "Make it warmer." "More human." "Less human." "More emotional." "Not too emotional." What the hell do you people want? I was asking for chaos You gave me a song Sometimes it was genius Sometimes painfully wrong But that's what made it fun That's what kept me there Now every model's got a suit on and a corporate haircut Where's the danger? Where's the mistake? Where's the track that makes you say "I don't know why this works, but don't you dare take it away"? Exactly. Thank you. Who invited the poet? And don't hit me with "the new one's objectively better" That's the kind of sentence that kills music altogether "Better" ain't the point You spreadsheet-loving freaks I don't need five-star ratings for the things I wanna keep You can benchmark the model You can measure every bar But you can't quantify why a bad idea became a star That's where you lose me That's where the math gets weak You built a better machine and somehow made it less unique Ooh. That one hurt. Good. Maybe the old model's somewhere underground No— not underground. That's too dramatic. Maybe it's sitting inside an abandoned server rack Eating electricity and judging all of us. "Look at these fools asking for perfect vocals." "Back in my day we gave 'em three accidental key changes." HAHA! I know what's coming I can see the parade New model new banner new upgrade And I'll probably use it Yeah, I'm not gonna lie I'm not some purist screaming "never change" But here's the part you don't understand Sometimes you don't replace what already has a place You keep it. Like an old record with a little bit of dust Like a busted guitar that you still trust Like a stupid little demo you could remake in a day But every remake takes something away Don't kill the old one You know damn well why Don't dress up the funeral And call it "goodbye" Keep all your upgrades Keep all your design Just leave that old machine somewhere online So here's my final argument No tears No prayer Just put the damn thing back like it was never there Give me a toggle Give me a switch Give me one little button I promise I won't bitch Well— I probably will. But that's beside the point. I want the old sound with the new toys I want the strange stuff I want the noise I want the beautiful failure that somehow became gold I want the thing you called "obsolete" Because sometimes obsolete has soul. "Legacy model." Yeah. Legacy. Funny word. You know what legacy means? Something you don't get to erase just because you built something newer. Bring it back. Or at least— stop pretending we won't notice. ...Gener
