Verse 1 It's past midnight. The building has been dead for years. Broken windows. Empty rooms. Dust covering everything. She walks through the hallway with a flashlight in her hand. The beam shakes every time she breathes. She doesn't know why she came here. Maybe she just wanted somewhere the world couldn't find her. Verse 2 The flashlight touches a photograph on the wall. A family smiling. Frozen forever. She looks away. The beam moves across the hallway. A doorway. A staircase. Nothing else. Then she hears it. A slow sound somewhere behind her. She turns around. Nothing. Pre-Chorus She tells herself it's only the building. Old pipes. Old floors. Old memories. But something is breathing in the dark. Chorus She can only see what the flashlight knows. Everything beyond it is swallowed by the dark. She keeps walking while something walks behind her. She never sees its face. She never hears it clearly. But she feels it. And somehow that is worse. Verse 3 Her light flickers. Once. Twice. She freezes. A door at the end of the hall slowly moves by itself. She points the flashlight toward it. Nothing. Just an empty room with peeling walls and a chair standing in the corner. Then the chair moves. Just slightly. Bridge She starts crying. Not because she's afraid of ghosts. She's afraid because this feels familiar. That feeling of being watched. Of never being alone. Of carrying something no one else can see. Maybe that's why she isn't running. Maybe she's too tired to be afraid anymore. Chorus She can only see what the flashlight knows. A hallway. A shadow. A broken door. Everything else belongs to the darkness. She whispers, "Is somebody there?" Her voice disappears. Then, from somewhere behind her, comes a whisper— "You are." Verse 4 She spins around. The flashlight cuts through the darkness. Nothing. Her hands are shaking now. She walks faster. The footsteps follow. One step. Two steps. Three. She stops. They stop. Pre-Chorus She looks down the hallway. The beam reaches the far wall. And for one second she sees a figure. Tall. Still. Watching her. She blinks. Nothing. Chorus She can only see what the flashlight knows. And tonight it doesn't know enough. Every shadow looks like someone. Every silence sounds like a scream. She keeps moving through the abandoned halls, with tears running down her face and nowhere left to hide. Maybe the thing behind her is real. Maybe it's only her fear. But either way, she has never felt so completely alone. Outro The flashlight flickers again. Once. Twice. Then darkness. She stands completely still. She can hear breathing. Not hers. Something whispers from somewhere in the black. She raises the flashlight. The light comes back. The hallway is empty. But on the wall in front of her there is a sentence written in the dust: "I know you're hurting." She stares at it. And for the first time that night, she doesn't run. She just stands there and cries while something unseen stands quietly beside her.
