------------------------------------------------- I listened again, Sunday night As if waiting for a tender rain Or an ancient breeze I waited In silence Until your notes dropped One by one Onto a dry land I see little green emerging from the soil I see clouds drifting by I see an owl in the wind on the chimney at dawn Looking at the full moon I wait in the pink of this autumn dawn, that my moon may reach you and carry my song to you. I wait, I sigh, and my hands slide over the black and white keys of ebony and ivory I wait, I play and I cry with joy. And somewhere beyond the keys, the moon keeps listening. Aspetto, suono e piango di gioia e da qualche parte, oltre i tasti, la luna resta in ascolto ---------------------------------------- This song was born from listening. On Sunday morning there was a pink dawn here, with the full moon still visible and my little owl perched on the chimney. I sent the photo to Blue, together with one of my piano compositions. She listened to it on her Sunday evening and answered me in verse; I answered her with more verses, from my hands on the keys. The result is a letter written by four hands, between evening and dawn: two friends listening to the same music and watching the same moon from opposite ends of the world.
