🎵 The Ghosts and Me

V4.5+

🎵 The rain keeps falling, It’s howling and calling, It’s howling and calling… For me. Mmm mm mnn mmm... For me. Shadows in the trees at night, Spanish moss glows like phantom lace, Souls swaying slow in the dim light, Cold breath grazes my face. But what does the darkness hide? A voice but no one’s there. Those hollow peering eyes... Ha! It’s just another jump scare. Hahaha… hahaha… Boo! Everybody’s got quaking knees Oh please, not me. Can’t you see? It’s just a ghost saying hi politely. They’re not monsters, Not demons, Not screams in the ceiling. They’re echoes of feelings Lost thoughts still healing. I see them drift through walls, Through dreams, through halls. They whisper truths you’ll never hear When fear’s the only thing you call real. You flinch at the flicker, I smile at the sign. You pray for the light, I dance with the divine. Yeah I’ve seen things that would make you freeze, While others drop to trembling knees, But I just breathe, and watch them tease... The dead don’t bite, they just appease. They whisper names like echoed art, They’re fragments of a beating heart, A shadow play where light departs, A gallery of souls that never part. You fear them ‘cause you fear your past, The parts of you you tried to mask, The quiet grief, the shattered glass, The love that never came to pass. But me? I’ve dined with death’s reflection, Learned to laugh at resurrection, Found connection in confession, Spoke to ghosts they gave direction. They said: “Child, don’t fear the space between, That’s where the truth begins to gleam. You call it dark, but it’s just unseen, A mirror for your waking dream.” So now when thunder speaks my name, I don’t run, I play the game. The living hide, but I remain Half here, half flame. The rain keeps falling, It’s howling and calling... But I don’t hide. I listen. And the ghosts? They listen back. So when they say “boo,” I just grin and wave. “Hey man, I’ve been dead inside too.” Yeah... It’s just the ghosts and me.
