"Rat Between the Eyes" The Demiurge is Back!

baroque pop, british invasion, psychedelic rock

I tried to catch a meaning
but it slipped behind the light
Your colours kept on changing
never landing where they might

[Pre-Chorus | Building | Sitar entering | Drums arriving soft | tension-rise]
And somewhere in the in-between—

So I wandered through your daydreams
where the clocks forget to chime
And I realised you never heard me—
you just liked the way I shined

[Pre-Chorus | Half-time feel | Suspended | Sparse | em-dash-lead-in]
And all your colours — they were never mine—

[Chorus | Stacked Vocals 8 Layers | Blood Harmony | Full Band | Kenopsia | Triumphant]
Rat between the eyes, rat between the eyes
somebody borrowed my light
Rat between the eyes, rat between the eyes
and vanished into the night
(rat between the eyes)
(rat between the eyes)

[Bridge | Voice and Hammond only | Stripped | Confessional | Hiraeth | Reflective]
You were somewhere between a dream and a name
A colour without a wall, a fire without flame
I kept on shining — didn't know the cost
That the brightest lights are the ones that get lost

[Outro | Mellotron Strings | Stacked Vocals 16 Layers | Ascending | Dissolving | Vellichor]
Rat between the eyes, rat between the eyes
(you just liked the way I shined)
Rat between the eyes, rat between the eyes
(the way I shined, the way I shined)
(everyone — everyone)
(rat between the eyes...)
