Everybody’s got a halo Til the lights turn off at night Everybody’s preaching heaven While they’re sharpening a knife You say love like it’s religion But you sell it for a price Funny how the same damn people Swear they’re angels in the light Pre-Chorus Pray for mercy, pray for grace But you’d stab a friend to win the race Chorus That’s mankind Pretty lies and dirty hands Saying “trust me” while they’re breaking every plan That’s mankind Saints until the pressure hits Then it’s fuck the truth and fuck who gets hurt in it Everybody’s holy Til the bloodstains start to shine Yeah that’s mankind Verse 2 You post prayers on your story While you talk shit after dark You say “love everybody” But you’re tearing them apart Motherfucker, I’ve been watching All the games you people play Acting like you’re pure and perfect While you rot a different way Pre-Chorus Funny how the guilty scream The loudest about morality Chorus That’s mankind Pretty lies and dirty hands Saying “trust me” while they’re breaking every plan That’s mankind Saints until the pressure hits Then it’s fuck the truth and fuck who gets hurt in it Everybody’s holy Til the bloodstains start to shine Yeah that’s mankind Bridge (dark moment) Maybe I’m no better Maybe I’m the same But at least I don’t pretend I’m innocent in the game You build thrones out of bullshit Crowns made out of pride Then act shocked when the empire Starts to rot inside Final Chorus That’s mankind Pretty smiles, loaded guns Everybody’s righteous when the cameras run That’s mankind Love is just a line you sell Til the mask slips off and you know damn well Everybody’s holy Til the truth cuts through the shine Yeah that’s mankind Outro So don’t preach to me about heaven When you’re living just the same We’re all sinners in the spotlight Welcome to mankind.
