Porch Light Promise

[Verse 1] You left your boots by the mat Like you meant to come back Half a tank in my truck And your jacket still on the rack Mama asked if I'm okay I just smiled and said, “I’m fine” But that porch light stayed on Like it knew you’d change your mind [Pre-Chorus] I keep the screen door shut Then I let it swing Every little sound Feels like your ring If you’re gonna haunt my heart Baby, do it right Come on home tonight [Chorus] Porch light promise Say you’re coming back Porch light promise Don’t leave me like that I’m still here Still holding on Porch light promise Till you’re home [Verse 2] The dog sleeps by your side Of the bed you made I still hear your laugh In the fan by the shade That old dirt road Knows our tires by name Every turn back then Used to feel the same [Pre-Chorus] I keep your words In the drawer by my keys Folded up tight Like a quarter of dreams If you’re gonna call me Baby, make it soon I can’t keep talking To this empty room [Chorus] Porch light promise Say you’re coming back Porch light promise Don’t leave me like that I’m still here Still holding on Porch light promise Till you’re home [Bridge] If you found a new road If my love went stale Just tell me straight Don’t leave me to fail But if you miss this house And this stubborn heart Follow that light Right back to where we are [Final Chorus] Porch light promise Say you’re coming back Porch light promise Don’t leave me like that I’m still here Still holding on Porch light promise Till you’re home Porch light promise Till you’re home
