Window Wider

the air is heavy today it settles on my shoulders like hands that won’t let go I move slowly, as if walking through water I didn’t wake up I just shifted from one state into another as if the night never released me all I have is pressure it doesn’t explain itself it simply exists I open the window — but the street doesn’t feel lighter it only feels wider people walk and each of them carries their own air I see how it wraps around them with me, it behaves differently I try to exhale — but the exhale doesn’t end it stretches stretches stretches and I get stuck inside it if I lie down — it gets deeper if I stand up — it gets higher if I close my eyes — it gets closer I can’t find a position where there is less of me the air is heavy today the air is heavy today the air is heavy today and if this is just a day why does it weigh like an entire life
