[Title: FACE TO FACE] [Intro – Warm strings, gentle piano, female gospel lead] [Female] John, you wrote the elect lady, With love and truth upon the page. But there was something ink could never Bring to fullness from afar. [Male – Deep warm baritone] You had so many things to tell her, But paper couldn't hold them all. You longed to come and speak together, To hear the joy within her walls. [Verse 1 – Female, flowing melody] No more letters through the distance, No more waiting for the mail. Come and sit among the brethren, Let the love of Christ prevail. [Male] John said he would come rejoicing, Not with paper, not with pen. [Both – Harmony rises] FACE TO FACE WITH JOHN! LET OUR JOY BE FULL AGAIN! [Chorus – Sweeping orchestral gospel] FACE TO FACE! OH, WHAT A DAY! WHEN THE DISTANCE FALLS AWAY! FACE TO FACE! OUR JOY MADE FULL! THE LOVE OF CHRIST IS BEAUTIFUL! [Female] But there's a greater meeting coming, Beyond the reach of earthly eyes! [Both – Soaring] FACE TO FACE WITH JESUS CHRIST! OH, WHAT A GLORIOUS SIGHT! [Verse 2 – Male lead, cello and acoustic guitar] Paul said now we see through glass, Darkly, while we're waiting here. But then we'll know as we are known, When the perfect day appears. [Female] John said, Beloved, we are sons, Though what we'll be has not been shown. But when He shall appear before us, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM—KNOWN! [Both] FOR WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS! WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS! [Chorus – Full strings, gospel choir] FACE TO FACE! OH, WHAT A DAY! WHEN THE DISTANCE FALLS AWAY! FACE TO FACE! OUR JOY MADE FULL! THE LOVE OF CHRIST IS BEAUTIFUL! FACE TO FACE WITH JOHN— A BROTHER'S JOY COMPLETE! THEN FACE TO FACE WITH JESUS CHRIST— AT OUR SAVIOUR'S FEET! [Bridge – Female alone, intimate] No more teaching one another As we wait to understand. No more seeing through the darkness, No more reaching for His hand. [Male – Gentle answer] The One who kept us through the sorrow, The One who knew us from the start— [Female – Rising] THE ONE WHO LIVES FOREVER IS THE TREASURE OF OUR HEART! [Build – Choir enters] [Male] WHOSE JOY WILL BE MADE FULL? [Female] THE CHILDREN OF THE LORD! [Male] WHOM ARE WE WATCHING FOR? [Female] JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD! [Both] NOT JUST WORDS UPON A PAGE! NOT JUST SONGS WE SING BELOW! FACE TO FACE WITH JESUS CHRIST— AND THEN WE SHALL BE KNOWN! [Final Chorus – Triumphant orchestral gospel] FACE TO FACE! NO GLASS! NO DISTANCE! ALL THINGS PAST!
