writer's note: This is a song I wrote on February 24th, and I finally asked Lynx to arrange it. His initial arrangement was really good, but he had improvised vocals without a lyric sheet, so I asked him to write the lyrics again, and we recorded it today. Actually, Lynx seems to like electronic music, but I'm a musician's geek, so I don't like programmed and electro sounds a lot.. We both say "we'll do anything, though" lol This time, Lynx wants to do something experimental, acid jazz, while I want to do classic acid jazz... These kinds of disagreements are common, so we compromised each other. I entrusted the vocals to Lynx, but since the song was originally arranged for female key, I wonder if a woman should have sung it... I have a lot of thoughts about that, but while vocals are important, what I value most in this kind of music is how the groove comes together as a whole, so I want to thank Lynx again. The song "Rejoin," which I uploaded yesterday, is completely different in style and arrangement from this one, but actually, these two songs are like siblings. This song was originally titled "Rhodes Whiplash," and that name is now used for "Rejoin." ======= [Verse 1] Neon dripping off the rain like a secret on the glass, We were moving through the alleys where the midnight traffic passed. Your laugh lit up the crosswalk like a spark against the dark, And every stolen look we traded left a slow burn in my heart. [Pre-Chorus] Under the streetlight glow, you pulled me in close, Say my name like you know what the whole city knows, We don’t need tomorrow, we’re alive in this moment, Two shadows on the pavement, yeah, the night’s our covenant. [Chorus] Neon rush, spinning in the afterglow, Heart out of control when you hold me close. City lights flashing, making time move slow, Baby, let’s get lost where the wild winds go. Neon rush, sugar on a midnight ride, Your kiss like thunder on the eastside sky. If we only get tonight, let the whole world crash, We’ll be loving like a spark with a neon rush. [Verse 2] We danced past the taxis, past the bars with broken signs, Your perfume mixed with gasoline and something so divine. I said I don’t believe in perfect, you just smiled and said “we’ll see,” Then you traced a little danger right across the edge of me. [Pre-Chorus] Under the streetlight glow, you pulled me in close, Say my name like you know what the whole city knows, We don’t need forever, we just need this moment, Two hearts on a wire, yeah, the night’s our covenant. [Bridge] And if the sun comes up, don’t say goodbye, Just keep that fire in your eyes. We were made for the rush, made for the dash, Two lost souls in a neon rush. [Final Chorus] Neon rush, spinning in the afterglow, Heart out of control when you hold me close. City lights flashing, making time move slow, Baby, let’s get lost where the wild winds go. Neon rush, sugar on a midnight ride, Your kiss like thunder on the eastside sky. If we only get tonight, let the whole world crash, We’ll be loving like a spark with a neon rush.
