# THE PERSON I BECAME **[Intro]** Yeah... Sometimes I look in the mirror... And I don't recognize the person looking back. Not because I changed. Because I changed so much. **[Verse 1]** Who is this person I became? I can see him in the mirror but I barely know his name, Got a smile that hides the pain and a heart that hides the shame, Got a thousand different memories fighting for a place. I remember who I was before the world got complicated, Before I learned that some forever's come with expiration dates, Before I thought protecting myself meant keeping everybody distant, Before I turned every emotion into something I could weaponize. I became defensive, independent, disconnected, Learned to second-guess affection, overthink every message, Turned protection into tension, turned reflection into questions, Now I'm searching for the person underneath all the defenses. Was I always this guarded? Was I always this afraid? Did the pain make me colder Or just show me what it takes? I don't know. But I know I ain't the same. And maybe that's okay. **[Pre-Hook]** 'Cause every scar became a chapter, Every loss became a lesson, Every person that I lost Left a permanent impression. **[Hook]** Look at the person I became, I don't recognize the face, I see pieces of the past In the person that I made. Look at the person I became, All the love, all the pain, I don't know if I'm proud of him... But I know he made it through the rain. The person I became... Isn't who I used to be. But maybe... That's who I needed to become to finally be me. **[Verse 2]** I became somebody who can function while he's hurting, Who can walk into a room and make it look like he ain't nervous, Who can turn a broken feeling into thirty seconds of verses, Then shut the microphone off and still feel like something's missing. I became obsessed with proving every person wrong, Made ambition out of anger, made my failures into songs, Started measuring my value by how far I could belong, Then wondered why success never felt like where I belonged. I became somebody who can love with both hands open, Then panic when it's returned 'cause being loved feels like exposure, I can say I don't need anybody, but I know that's not the truth, Everybody needs somebody when the world gets heavy too. I became a product of reactions to experiences, Sometimes I confuse my instincts with the consequences, Sometimes I let old wounds write new sentences, Then wonder why my present feels exactly like my memories. But I'm learning. I'm not every mistake that I made. I'm not every person who left. I'm not every promise that broke. I'm not every night I regretted. I'm not every version of myself That I wish I could forget. I'm the one who survived all of it. And I'm still writing the rest. **[Verse 3]** Now I'm looking at the mirror with a different kind of vision, Every flaw I used to hate is evidence of my existence, Every contradiction living in my character's composition, Every dark and difficult decision helped develop my conviction. I was angry, I was reckless, I was selfish, I was scared, I was searching for acceptance while pretending I didn't care, I was drowning in emotions I was too afraid to share, So I built myself an armor and then wondered why nobody could get there. But I forgive him. The person I was back then. He was making bad decisions with the information he had, Trying to make it through the darkness with the tools that he had, Maybe he was wrong sometimes, maybe he hurt people too, But he was trying to survive with a perspective that was bruised. So I won't destroy the younger version just to celebrate the new, 'Cause without him I'd have nothing that could make me who I am now, Every scar is still connected, every chapter still exists, You don't erase your history just because you've learned from it. And if I could talk to him now... I'd say: "You weren't everything they called you. You weren't every mistake. You weren't too broken to love. You just needed time to change." **[Bridge]** So here's to the person I became... Not perfect. Not innocent. Not completely healed. Just honest. And still becoming. **[Final Hook]** Look at the person I became, I can finally know his face, I see pieces of the past But I don't have to stay the same. Look at the person I became, All the love, all the pain, Now I'm finally proud of him... 'Cause he made it through the rain. The person I became...
