Lord, Be My Shield Ft. Me

[INTRO — SOFT PIANO, LEAD VOCAL PRAYING] Lord, I come before Your throne, In this battle, I'm not alone. When the wicked speak my name, Be my shelter through the pain. Oh, Father, hear me when I pray, Keep the evil far away. When my strength is almost gone, You're the One I'm leaning on. [VERSE 1 — SOULFUL LEAD VOCAL] Lord, deliver me from evil hands, Keep me safe according to Your plan. When they plot against my soul, You're the God who has control. When their words become like knives, And their lies threaten my life, I will not return their hate, I'll put my troubles in Your hands and wait. You see the things that I can't see, You know the truth inside of me. Though they may try to bring me down, Your love is where my peace is found. [PRE-CHORUS — STRINGS RISE, BACKGROUND VOCALS ENTER] I won't fight with flesh and bone, I know I'm never on my own. Every tear, You understand, I'm protected by Your mighty hand! [CHORUS — FULL GOSPEL CHOIR, POWERFUL DRUMS] Lord, be my shield! (Be my shield!) You're the strength that makes me stand! Lord, be my shield! (Be my shield!) I'm protected by Your hand! When the enemy comes near, I will stand and have no fear. You are my refuge, You are my strength, I'll praise Your holy name till the end! Lord, be my shield! Lord, fight for me! You're the God who sets me free! [VERSE 2 — ORGAN AND BASS ENTER] They can whisper, they can lie, But Your truth will never die. Every weapon they may form, Cannot steal the peace I've found. Keep my feet upon Your way, Guard my heart from hate each day. Let me never lose my soul, When revenge is what they want. You are righteous, You are just, You're the One in whom I trust. Even when I cannot see, I know You're still protecting me. [BRIDGE — CALL AND RESPONSE] LEAD: Who protects me when I'm weak? CHOIR: The Lord protects me! LEAD: Who hears every prayer I speak? CHOIR: The Lord hears me! LEAD: Who can keep me through the night? CHOIR: The Lord is my light! LEAD: When the world comes after me? CHOIR: In His hands, I'm safe and free! ALL VOCALS: No fear! No shame! I'm calling on the Savior's name! No hate! No lies! My God is watching from on high! [VAMP — TRADITIONAL BLACK GOSPEL CHURCH FEEL] Be my shield, Lord! Be my shield, Lord! When trouble comes, be my shield, Lord! Keep me, Jesus! Hold me, Jesus! Through the storm, don't let me go! CHOIR (REPEATING, BUILDING INTENSITY): He's my keeper! He's my shelter! He's my refuge in the storm! He's my healer! He's my Savior! In His presence, I am strong! [OUTRO — PIANO, ORGAN, CHOIR SOFTENS] Lord, I leave it in Your hands, You know me better than I am. I won't repay the wrong they've done, I'll trust the victory You've already won. Be my shield... Be my shield... Forever, Lord, be my shield. Amen.
