The Gospel of Darkness v1-2

[Intro] [orchestral strings, cinematic percussion, atmospheric synth] [Female vocals, whispered] Always and everywhere. [Male vocals, spoken] They told us the same old tale. [Verse 1] [Female vocals] The darkness is full of evil things. Monsters beneath the earth. [Male vocals] Demons hiding in the shadows. Waiting beyond the edge of light. [Pre-Chorus] [distorted guitar chugging, double-kick drums] [Male vocals, growled] Demons! Demons! Evil! Darkness! [Chorus] [full band, orchestral brass, operatic female vocals] Something is always there. Something is always watching. Something they taught us to fear. [Verse 2] [staccato strings, driving bass] [Female vocals] From ancient tales to whispered prayers, From frightened hearts to sacred words, The unseen beasts were born again In every age, in every way. [Bridge] [Male vocals, aggressive clean] They gave the darkness eyes and teeth, They gave the night a thousand names, And blamed the unseen for every fear, Then dressed the shadows up as flames. But why? Why must the darkness have a face? Why must the unknown have a name? Who taught you to fear the dark? [Male vocals, growled] The dark! The dark! The dark! [Chorus 2] [Female vocals] They said the darkness came from evil. They said the evil came from God. They built a throne above the shadows, Then called the shadow something wrong. [Post-Chorus] [Male vocals] You call it truth! You call it faith! You call it sacred! You call it fate! But who created the creator? [Interlude] [orchestral strings, piano] [Female vocals, spoken] Mostly because of religion. [Male vocals, spoken] Well, yes. I thought so too. And perhaps you thought so too. [Verse 3] [Male vocals, clean] But let me put your mind at ease. There are no demons in the dark. No monsters waiting underneath. No ancient beast behind the stars. No hungry gods beyond our reach. There is no beast behind the night. [Male vocals, growled] No beast! No demon! No monster! No god! [Bridge 2] [Female vocals] Religion claims there must be a creator. [Male vocals] Then answer me: who created the creator? Who? Who? Who? [Chorus 3] [Female vocals] You say: bring me evidence. [Male vocals] Then where is yours? [Female vocals] You say: God himself has spoken. [Male vocals] Where did he speak? [Female vocals] In his book. [Male vocals] And why is the book true? [Female vocals] Because God said so. [Male vocals] And where did God say it? [Female vocals] In his book. [Male vocals] And who confirms the book? [Female vocals] God himself! [Male and Female vocals] God said it! Because God said it! God said it! [Outro] [Male vocals] Round and round the circle closes. [Female vocals] Why becomes truth because the word says so. [Male vocals] Who spoke the word? God! Who wrote the word? God! Who proved the word? God! God! God! God! [Female vocals] You built the darkness out of fear. You gave it names and gave it laws. You raised a throne above the night, Then called its shadow holy cause. But darkness needs no demon, And silence needs no throne. The unknown is unknown, And faith is not a proof. [Male vocals] If God created everything, Then who created God? [Female vocals] Always and everywhere. They told us to fear the darkness. [Male vocals] But perhaps the darkness was never there. Only the story remains. The story remains.
