🎧 SCRIPT (slow… pauses matter… let it breathe) Most people walk through places like this. (pause) They feel the breeze… hear the water… maybe stop for a second… …and then they keep moving. Tom stays. Not because he has to. Because he chose to. (soft wind swell) He didn’t grow up here. Didn’t plan this. Came down from Ohio… after years on the line… after doing what you’re supposed to do. And like a lot of people… he was just looking for something quieter. (pause) But quiet doesn’t mean empty. Out here… there’s work to be done. Not loud work. Not the kind people notice. The kind that happens close to the ground. (gentle swell) Mangroves. Small… fragile… easy to miss. But placed in the right spot… they change everything. Red ones… near the water. Black ones… a little farther back. Each one with a role. Each one… holding the line. (pause) Most people don’t see that part. They see the view. The water. The way the shoreline curves just right… like it’s always been that way. But it hasn’t. Someone stayed behind… and took care of it. (wind rises slightly) And sometimes… people pull them out. Even though they’re protected. Even though they matter. (pause… softer tone) And still… he plants them anyway. Again. And again. Because that’s what this work is. Not control. Not recognition. Just showing up… and doing something small… that lasts longer than you do. (long pause) From the overlook… you can see everything. St. Pete… off in the distance. Tampa… stretching north. Big picture. But the truth is… places like this… don’t stay beautiful… on their own. (soft fade) Someone stays. (final pause) Tom stays. (very soft) Tampa Bay Signal Stories from the people who shape the places we pass through.
