In January of 1961 President Kennedy gave a commemorative speech that included the following .... Today, we need a nation of minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom As the basic purpose of their daily life, and who are willing to consciously work, and sacrifice for that freedom. April 19th in 1775 The day marksmanship came alive Captain John Parker said “We won’t back down” 77 minutemen stood their ground All at the ready Hands wet with sweat On this day history will be met A shot rang out Everyone heard the sound When the smoke cleared Eight minutemen lay on the ground We need a nation of minutemen Ready hearts awake and wide Every hour every errand Freedom walking at our side Not just waiting for the sirens But in the small unnoticed fights We need a nation of minutemen Who guard the daylight and rule the night The citizenry was divided in that day You should listen to what I have to say We are all Americans We all are proud When it’s our turn we gonna get loud So be Sam Whittemore Or Thomas Payne But if you ain’t up to the task Then stay outta my lane We need a nation of minutemen Ready hearts awake and wide Every hour every errand Freedom walking at our side Not just waiting for the sirens But in the small unnoticed fights We need a nation of minutemen Who guard the daylight and rule the night In the way you raise your children In the way you spend your pay In the words you speak in quiet In the vow you keep each day Not just banners in the summer Then forget when fall begins But a thousand little choices Where the love of liberty wins Are you willing? Are you able? Are you ready? We can help Find us We’re everywhere coast to coast! We need a nation of minutemen Steady hands and stubborn grace Let the purpose of our breathing Be to keep this a freer place Not just waiting for the sirens But in the habits of our lives We need a nation of minutemen Where the will to guard it never dies Listen to our song called "The 56" Are you willing to sacrifice as much as those men did? What is the American way of life worth to you? Ask not what your country can do for you, But what you can do for your country! We love you all! We are one family of 350M! We fight for you all!
