Two Records, One Witness
[DOCUMENTARY NARRATION — SPOKEN ONLY — DO NOT SING] This morning, I felt the Spirit directing my thoughts toward the Nemenhah Records. How do these records strengthen the Book of Mormon? And how does the Book of Mormon help us test the Nemenhah Records? The Book of Mormon says that God speaks to many nations. It also leaves several histories unfinished. Hagoth built ships that carried families northward. Also Corianton later traveled north with provisions for the Ammonites. The Nemenhah Records describe what followed—the communities of Hagoth’s descendants and their efforts to follow the Peacemaker. The Book of Mormon says the resurrected Christ would visit other sheep. The Nemenhah Records testify that the Peacemaker visited their ancestors, healed the sick, taught His gospel, and called them to become one. The Book of Mormon also promises that three disciples would continue ministering upon the earth. The Nemenhah Records describe their work among a righteous remnant. But the strongest harmony is spiritual. Both records teach faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, spiritual rebirth, and guidance through the Holy Ghost. Both warn against pride, riches, secret combinations, priestcraft, and religious control. Both teach that Zion begins with changed hearts. We should not pretend that one record scientifically proves every claim in the other. We must judge their fruit. Do they lead us to Christ? Do they preserve agency? Do they produce humility, charity, healing, and peace? For me, the Nemenhah Records have not replaced the Book of Mormon. They have helped it open more fully. And the Book of Mormon has helped me recognize the voice of the Peacemaker within the Nemenhah Records. Two sacred records, bearing one witness of Jesus Christ. [END SPOKEN NARRATION] [BRIEF INSTRUMENTAL PAUSE] [BEGIN SONG — SING ONLY FROM HERE] Two records, one witness, One Savior, one Way. Build Zion with the Peacemaker, And walk His Way today. [END SONG — NO REPEAT — FADE OUT]
